Lock, Nuremberg Castle
This lock was on one of the courtyard doors of Nuremberg Castle – the front plate of the lock is probably larger than the size of my hand. I love the intricate detail of the weathered fittings, but I have a soft spot for this picture for another reason: our local contact informed us that the reason the local delicacy (Nuremberg Bratwurst – a sausage no larger than your little finger) was so small was so it could be pushed through the locks on pubs to hungry patrons outside, after the pubs were supposedly shut for the night.

Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin
Another picture of the East Wing of Kilmainham Gaol in Dublin. In use for 128 years, it served as the prison for many of the leaders of the campaign for Irish independence.
ETA: milkyminx wrote this poem in response to this picture. Thanks milkyminx!

Delta Solar Sculpture, Washington D.C.
Another view of the Delta Solar Sculpture, Washington D.C. I just love the futuristic feeling of this sculpture – it’s fitting for something which belongs to the National Air and Space Museum.

Street Artists in Montmartre, Paris
Parisian street artists work in the Place du Tertre, Montmarte, once the abode of artists such as Picasso, and now the haunt of local artists.

Lunchtime at Piccadilly Circus, London
Workmen from the nearby Underground station enjoy their lunch on the steps of the Shaftesbury Memorial, Piccadilly Circus, generously sharing their repast with London’s ever-present pigeons.
