Skyscrapers, Paris

Blue and copper abstract picture of skyscrapers, Paris

Skyscrapers, Paris

My last few posts from France have featured its more traditional architecture fairly strongly, so here’s a picture from the opposite end of the architectural spectrum. La Defense is Europe’s largest purpose-built business district, and definitely the place to go in Paris if you want to photograph modern architecture.

Hollywood Walk of Fame, Los Angeles

Tung Chung, Hong Kong

This picture of a junk in front of the high-rise apartment buildings of Tung Chung was taken from the Ngong Ping Cable Car. (Those of you who are familiar with my feelings about heights can imagine my reaction to spending 25 minutes suspended hundreds of meters in the air in a transparent box, but at least I got one good shot from it.)

The juxtaposition of modern and traditional was one of the most striking things about Hong Kong – I think this picture does a good job of capturing that.

Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland

Close up picture of the basalt columns of the Giant's Causeway, Northern Ireland

Giant's Causeway, Northern Ireland

The Giant’s Causeway is impressive from a distance, but it isn’t until you get up close that you can see all the intricate details, and how perfectly the hexagonal basalt columns fit together.

(You can see more of my pictures of the Giant’s Causeway here .)
