Traffic Jam, Harris, Scotland
Rural Scotland’s system of one-lane roads, dotted with occasional passing places, works pretty well – until you encounter a flock of sheep that doesn’t feel like obeying the road rules!

Beautiful photo and a very very good b&w.
It really shows the spirit of slow living…
Scotland was the first place I’ve visited where I’ve really felt the attraction of ‘slow living’ – it was seriously tempting, in a way I’ve never felt before.
Hi great title – thanks. Andy
Thanks Andy. It seemed fitting – it was one of the few times we were brought to a standstill!
Wow incredible image. I love the composition and this is just perfect in B&W.
Thanks Edith. Sometimes you get lucky – they lined up perfectly for me!
What a fantastic image ! The type of traffic jam I do not mind. B&W is beautiful.
Yeah, it sure beats city traffic any day!
Great black and white image, love the sheep, and the way the clouds shapes mimic them!
Thanks Janice. I knew as soon as I took it this picture had to be black and white.
What a great shot. Strange how sheep always seem to stare at the photographer!
I think it’s a Scottish Sheep thing – when we were in Ireland, we couldn’t get a single sheep to pose for a picture!
Wonderful!
Thanks Sonali!
Ha, ha – this is a funny and nice capture! I love these smalle one-lane roads and the traffic, that is moving about here
Thanks Truels! The one-lane roads are picturesque, but could be a little hair-raising when it came to blind bends on the edge of mountains
I must say I love sheep, but anyway, this is really a beautiful photo. Very nice.
Thanks Bente! I have a soft spot for sheep too, at least when they are being as photogenic as these ones
Ha!hahahahahaha! Such a great shot! Something like this happened a couple of years ago out here, when a herd of cattle took over a main road. I’ll take this type of traffic jam over freeway rush hour any day.
Thanks Luddy. I agree, I’d much rather have this than a gridlock of cars.
HAHA! That’s hilarious!
Got to love Sheep with Attitude with Plan B at the ready .. Reserves coming over the Hill !
Nice photo
Fortunately their nerve broke before the backup arrived, otherwise we might still be there!
Super photo and I just love the title!!!!
Thanks Dave – I couldn’t resist the title
The best kind of traffic jam! Beautiful in black and white. I’ve always waited to go to Scotland…someday!
Thanks Soonie. Scotland is amazing to experience, as well as being incredibly photogenic.
C’est absolument magnifique ce B/W, great shot !
Thanks Apple!
beautiful photography, love the composition and mood ….
Thanks Klaudia! I still find it hard to believe they arranged themselves so beautifully for me…
those are some very fluffy sheep
nice composition
Yup – they are quite impressive, really.
Your photograph illustrates the conundrum perfectly. Fantastic image :^)
Thanks Doug!
Very beautiful moment and capture ! Great shot !
Thanks Kevin!
LOL! This is great!
Thanks Fergie!
Wow, that is a fantastic image! I particularly like how beautifully you’ve captured the movement and atmosphere. The black and white works incredibly well. Many compliments!
Thanks Martina! This was one of those pictures which just had to be black and white, no other option.
A truly outstanding image in every respect!
Thanks very much Andrew!
This works excellently as B&W.
Great composition and b&w tones !
Thanks Kevin – this was one of those pictures that just screamed to be in black and white.
This is a great action shot…..I love sheep jams….even better for photos are Highland cow jams
We weren’t lucky enough to see any Highland Cow jams – which might have been a good thing, I don’t think we’d have been game to stare them down!
