Roman Forum, Rome
There’s nothing like pictures of an Empire long gone to usher in the new year. This was taken at the entrance to the Roman Forum.
Since it’s the first day of the new year, I have a few photographic New Years Resolutions I thought I should share with you all. The general idea is that if I post them here, someone may hold me to account when I start to waver!

Man and Dog, Rome
We were on a walking tour of Rome, making our way through the old Jewish Ghetto, when I saw this man and dog staring intently into the distance. Every time I see this picture I wonder what caught their attention so completely.

We visited Pompeii on a brilliant, sunny day, with not a cloud in the sky. Every tour guide there was carrying an umbrella, doing double duty as a rallying point as well as a welcome source of shade.
