Repost Wednesday! In this picture of Rideau Canal, Ottawa, the red glow of the sky – caused by the city lights reflecting off the low-hanging clouds – and the futuristic curve and lighting of the footbridge gave the scene a futuristic but almost post-apocalyptic feeling.

Ahoy, me hearties! It’s Repost Wednesday! A hunt through the archives didn’t turn up anything sufficiently nautical to honour International Talk Like a Pirate Day, so I went with a picture of the Canadian Parliament instead- politicians, pirates, it’s all the same, right?

Trolley Tour, Ottawa (May 2009)
On a free day in Ottawa, I decided to depart from my normal double-decker bus routine and explore the city via a Trolley Tour. Conveniently, the first stop was at an Irish Pub 
Parliament Hill, Ottawa
The view through the snow storm to Canada’s Parliament Hill, from Major’s Hill Park, Ottawa. The town’s artificial lighting turned both the snow and the sky an almost-post-apocalyptic shade of pink, and gave the place an eerie, otherworldly feeling.
Snow on the Locks, Rideau Canal
Snow falls on the locks of the Rideau Canal, Ottawa. This is the colour version of this photo – converting to monochrome seemed redundant!
