‘Big Sky Country’, Parkes

This picture was taken by the side of the road to the Parkes Radio Telescope (otherwise known as The Dish). Two-thirds of the universe’s known pulsars have been found using this telescope. (Since it’s a little hard to see on this scaled-down version, the telescope itself is on the horizon on the left-hand-side.)

  1. Don’t you seriously just love big skies…. Have to confess that clouds are most definitely a thing of mine…and many are the times when I’ve got strange looks from the family when I say “What’s the point going anywhere today… Look at that clear blue sky… Urrrrgh”….. LOL…. Wonderful shot here of the fluffy stuff… complete with miniature telescope… šŸ˜‰

    • I’ve been known to do the same thing, especially when travelling, which definitely prompts some raised eyebrows from various travelling buddies. And I’ll have you know that is the largest radio-telescope in the southern hemisphere! (Not that you can tell from this photo šŸ™‚ )
