Girl and Guard, Buckingham Palace

One of the things I love about England is the ceremonial pomp and pageantry, and the way they manage to effortlessly combine tradition and tourist attraction. Nowhere is this more evident than in the presence of the Household Division, who fulfil the ceremonial (as well as literal) guard duties for Buckingham Palace, as well as being a tourist attraction in their own right.  This child was fascinated with the marching guards inside the grounds of the Palace, and was ignoring all calls from her mother to come away from the fence.

  1. JP – You have a really great eye for ‘seeing’ the unexpected. Of course from the title of the image one expects to see, well, Buckingham Palace. It was nice to be surprised. Well done! 🙂
