Picture of man reclining on the Spanish Steps, Rome

An Italian man reclines near the top of the Spanish Steps, Rome

The Spanish Steps are apparently the longest and widest staircase in Europe. Having climbed them in the afternoon of a hot, sunny day, I can certainly believe it! Still, after fighting my way through the throngs of people at the base of steps to the relatively deserted upper sections, I was rewarded with this picture of a man reclining in the sun, red rose on his discarded shirt and dramatic shadow cast out behind him.
