Trees and Rock, Uluru

Trees at the base of the Rock

Thinking of Uluru as a big rock in the middle of the desert doesn’t really to justice to the complexity of the place, all the fascinating details and features of the formation which are only visible when you get up close and personal. The trees in this picture are some of the many nestled at the base of Uluru – and yes, these are full-sized trees. The black trail down the rock surface is actually algae, which grows in channels where rainfall flows down the surface.

  1. Love your blog! My brother and his wife lived in Sydney for 6 years and just came back. They did visit Uluru but their photos were crap…no offence to them…just their camera. This is stunning.
