Tidal Flats, Mont St Michel

Picture of a man walking on the tidal flats around Mont St Michel, France

Looking down, Mont St Michel

Mont St Michel is a tidal island off the coast of Normandy, France. The abbey which gives the island its name is magnificent, and well worth a visit, but the view down to the surrounding tidal flats has its own austere beauty.

  1. Mont St Michel is so close to here and yet I’ve never been. I’ve heard that the tide comes in at the speed of a galloping horse ..bit of useless information there!.
Very nice comp – yes it does look as though the walker could just step onto the roof. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Austere is the absolutely perfect word for this. I’ve been checking out Norman Rockwell mages recently and I am amazed at how much you can infer about the activity in his images. This shot reminds me of that. You can look at it and build an entire story. You’ve even captured his footprints in the sand. Great shot.
