Lock, Nuremberg Castle

Picture of the lock on the door of Nuremberg Castle, Germany

Lock, Nuremberg Castle

This lock was on one of the courtyard doors of Nuremberg Castle – the front plate of the lock is probably larger than the size of my hand.   I love the intricate detail of the weathered fittings, but I have a soft spot for this picture for another reason: our local contact informed us that the reason the local delicacy (Nuremberg Bratwurst – a sausage no larger than your little finger) was so small was so it could be pushed through the locks on pubs to hungry patrons outside, after the pubs were supposedly shut for the night.

  1. Nice tones and detail,
I’m working in the nuermburg area at the moment, agree with you about the sausages they are small, but they are also very tasty.
