Chinese Lantern, Hong Kong

A Chinese lantern sways from the roof of a Sampan, in Aberdeen Harbour. While the sampan ride itself is unashamedly tourist, it does afford you a momentary glimpse into the lives of the hundreds of people still living on their fishing junks in the middle of the harbour.

  1. Interesting way to look at HK. While I have spent all my life here, I never looked at this place from this. Quite shocking actually, this pic reminds me the traditional side of old HK.

  2. This picture is the one that drew me to your site. I love the tassels and subdued colour. The way you’ve highlighted the details invites the viewer to invent a story. The image communicates movement and the idea that you’re viewing an ancient relic.
