  1. This is gorgeous. Your photo absolutely captures the sorrow of the events commemorated by this memorial. I’d love to see it in person….if a photo evokes this much feeling, I can’t imagine what actually being there must be like. Thank you!

  2. This is a fine and well composed image from this important place. I was sorry that i did not have the time to go there on my last visit in Berlin two years ago. I hope I can do it next time.

  3. Beautiful image. I did not know that such a memorial exist. It is nice to see that Germany recognizes the sins of the past. Be nice if Japan did the same thing.

    • Yes, German is very up-front about their past, and among some circles over here Japan has a rather bad reputation for refusing to do the same. But then, I guess all countries (and people) have tried to hide things they are ashamed of…

  4. I thought what it commemorates its a given. Its like a silent memory, you don’t quite know what its about but you know is there.

    • That’s very true, and I think the developers/architects decision to leave it ‘unlabelled’ (so to speak) definitely adds to the power of the monument. That said, I saw more than a few tourists who didn’t even realise that it was a monument, let alone what it was for.
