Sails, La Defense, Paris

Black and white picture of man under the sails of the Grand Arch, La Defence, Paris

Sails, Grand Arch, La Defense, Paris

Hey guys, apologies for the lack of posts – looks like the autopost function is not so automatic right now!  Have the picture that should have been posted a week ago while I try and get things sorted out 🙂

A man stands under the sails of La Grande Arche de la Défense.  The business district may not be on everyone’s must-see list when visiting Paris, but the architecture is incredible.

  1. Hey – I’ve been to La Defense a few times for work and I’d totally agree – take a camera, it’s amazing – so many reflections and angles and a wonderful view all the way back to the middle of Paris. http://flic.kr/s/aHsiNaPVey The Grand Arche is really quite something – should be ugly, but it’s beautifully placed amongst all the glass towers.

  2. No worries about posts or lack of JP, because when you post( or WP decides to!) they are just brilliant!!

There sure is a lot going on here. Love the soft curves against the squares in the background.

    Cheers!

  3. This image is great, it works nice in b&w, the structures from the sails are fine and overwhelming – because you’ve got those two people down there in the corner.

  4. It’s Mercury Retrograde right now, JP. so such things with the computer will happen! Glad to see you again….and these sails. Paris is always a surprise, isn’t it!

  5. I’ve only spent a short time in Paris and I didn’t think of visiting the business district, but after seeing this photograph I can see it’s worth going to, and with camera in hand! Really nice image, good composition and choice of b&w.

  6. Wow – what a brilliant image. I love your high key black and white treatment incredibly. The composition and the reflections on the wet floor are marvellous and the person really gives a sense of scale. Wonderful work!
