Hesitant Puffin, Lunga, Scotland

It may be a little less of a traditional animal portrait than my other puffin pictures, but I think this  more environmental portrait is one of my favourites.  I love the hesitant pose of the little puffin, contemplating making the leap up to the next ledge – maybe he forgot that he has wings?

    • Thank you! We saw quite a lot of puffins on our boat trip out to the Orkney’s, flying like little buzzing torpedos over the sea, but didn’t make it to any of their nesting grounds while we were there. Enjoy your holiday!

  1. That is a beautiful wildlife image. Great colours and I love the juxtaposition of the puffin and the flower in the background, which makes for a very nice composition. A great capture.

  2. Great shot, JP. I really like the beautiful wild environment you have captured in this image. Love all the different textures and bright colors. I think the little puffin is smart to hesitate before taking flight. Sometimes it’s good to take the time to analyze the situation especially when the path is so rocky. 😉

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year full of opportunities.
