Entrance, Fingal’s Cave, Staffa, Scotland

It’s hard to describe the feeling of power and scale you get standing at the entrance to Fingal’s Cave on Staffa Island, but this picture comes close, at least for me.

  1. Erin, this is just an unbelievable shot. Made me sit back in my chair and just say “WOW” right out loud! I’m off to look at the other photos you took of the cave πŸ™‚

  2. Ahh Columnar Basalt. It is so incredible. You totally did justice to the scale and other worldly qualities this site possesses. If I am not mistaken the rooftop part of the cave looks all mangled and messy due to basaltic lava interacting with a glacier. That is what I remember from my geology classes anyway. Just gorgeous!
